Start of School Notes & Reminders

Tuesday, August 19th (tomorrow) is the start of the 2014-15 school year. We are looking forward to seeing everyone. Below are a few notes and reminders as we kick off the school year:

Schedule

  • School starts at 8:00 a.m. You can drop off as early as 7:50 a.m.
  • On Tuesday, school ends at 2:00 p.m. for all students, except Krishna Sharanam, which dismisses at 3:00 p.m.
  • All other days school ends at 3:00 p.m. except for Bhakti Bhavan, which ends at 2:00 p.m. everyday.

Plates, Bowls, & Utensils
As part of our ecological awareness focus this year, we ask that every student in Audarya Bhavan, Madhurya Bhavan, and Krishna Sharanam have their own plate, bowl, and utensil (along with their water bottle) that they keep at school. Any student in 1st - 8th grade that doesn’t have one will be provided a quality set for only $5.

School Lunch
If you want your child to receive school lunch, orders for each week must be submitted prior to the start of the week. Same day lunch orders can be fulfilled but will cost $6 instead of $4.50. Lunch orders can be placed at www.bhaktivedantaacademy.org/lunch-order-form.

Uniforms
Our uniform order from India has yet to arrive.  Until they arrive, we ask that students adhere to these temporary dress standards if they don’t have uniforms:

Boys and Girls

Students should attend school in clean, properly sized, and weather appropriate clothing. Shirts and other clothing with writings, slogans, characters, or pictures are not permitted. Please—no blue jeans or denim.

Boys

Boys should preferably wear a kurta—if not available, a plain colored T-shirt or, collared shirt is acceptable. Pants or shorts (in hot weather) should be plain, neutral colors, such as khaki, beige, etc. No blue jeans.

Girls

Girls should wear modest dresses, punjabis, or modest skirts and blouses. Dresses and skirts should be of modest length—no spaghetti straps, tank tops, T-shirts, etc. During physical education, or other play activities, girls may change into pants, etc.

See you all tomorrow!
