PTO Meeting Minutes – March 10, 2016
Attendees Lalita-Sakhi Leslie, Lila Radhika Acosta, Oksana Stefanyshyn, Raghu Consbruck, Ritu Mishra, Visvambhara Aguilera Spring Activities Discussed a family fun day activity for the spring. Decided on Poe Springs on Sunday, April 24 at 11 a.m. PTO will fund catering of the event Visvambhara will confirm that the date does not conflict with student soccer championship games 2016-17 Enrollment Our re-enrollment rate for 2016-17 is at an unprecedented level – 98% Space for new students is significantly constrained, limiting the number of new students that will be able to be accepted. Anticipated enrollment will go from 86 this year to approximately 100 next. Future Facilities and Road Access Before any new classrooms can be added, we will need to address access to the school from SR 235. Visvambhara is working with a civil engineer to develop plans, including where additional classroom space will be situated. The permitting required and costs will determine how soon the work can be done. If the new road and parking cannot be established before August, the current parking area will be reconfigured to address congestion issues. New Family Orientation Discussed ways we can better support new families who join the school. Classroom level new family orientations that includes: Snack Birthday walks Lunch policy Procedures Pre-k expectations for student independence Who to contact, times, and preferences Reading groups and homework Changes in lunch procedure between pre-k/k and elementary Get veteran parent volunteers to serve as classroom moms/dads to help answer questions Next Meeting
