Bike Week 2016

Bhaktivedanta Academy's annual Bike Week starts this Monday, May 2, for students in Audarya Bhavan, Madhurya Bhavan, and Krishna Sharanam. To participate, students need to bring a bicycle in good working order and most importantly, a helmet. Please examine and test ride your child's bike before bringing it to school. In particular, check to make sure that:

  • tires are fully inflated and are not leaking air;
  • chain is not loose and remains on while riding;
  • brakes are working;
  • training wheels are removed;
  • seat is set to the appropriate height.

Please leave your child's bike and helmet when you drop them off on the Monday morning that bike week begins. The bikes will stay at school until Friday afternoon pick-up.

We are sorry, but we are not able to train students to ride a bicycle as part of Bike Week. Not all students are required to participate. They will stay back and have free play with other students until the riders return.

2016-17 Enrollment

  • Our re-enrollment rate for 2016-17 is at an unprecedented level – 98%

  • Space for new students is significantly constrained, limiting the number of new students that will be able to be accepted.

  • Anticipated enrollment will go from 86 this year to approximately 100 next.

Future Facilities and Road Access

  • Before any new classrooms can be added, we will need to address access to the school from SR 235.

  • Visvambhara is working with a civil engineer to develop plans, including where additional classroom space will be situated.

  • The permitting required and costs will determine how soon the work can be done. If the new road and parking cannot be established before August, the current parking area will be reconfigured to address congestion issues.

New Family Orientation

  • Discussed ways we can better support new families who join the school.

  • Classroom level new family orientations that includes:
