Whole Foods Awards Garden Grant

The Whole Foods Foundation has awarded Bhaktivedanta Academy a $2,000 grant for our school garden program! Big thanks to Tapasvini, who has pursued this grant for 3 years and to Devananda Henderson, Keshava's father, who is working to setup a beautiful permaculture garden for us.


Our award package from the Whole Kids Foundation. It included a $2,000 check, seeds, signage, and handbook.

Stanford 10 Testing Notification

Students in grade 3 or higher will be taking the Stanford Achievement Test, Tenth Edition (SAT-10), during the week of April 20th. The SAT-10 is a norm-referenced assessment that measures math, reading, and language skills.

Attendance is extremely important during this week. If there is a circumstance that will prevent your child from attending school please contact the school office. 

During test week please help your children be at their best by:

  •  Arriving at school by 8:00 a.m.;
  •  Getting a minimum of 8 hours of sleep;
  •  Eating a healthy breakfast;
  •  Bringing 1 or 2 books they can read;
  •  Ensuring they are relaxed and free from other worries.

Father's Day Invitation

Bhaktivedanta Academy's Annual Father’s Day is Friday, April 17th. We have special activities planned and welcome the opportunity for students to share their class with their dads (a significant family friend or relative is welcome if a student doesn't have a father who can attend).

The schedule is as follows:

  • Bhakti Bhavan - 8:15 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
  • Audarya Bhavan - 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.
  • Madhurya Bhavan - 9:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
  • Krishna Sharanam - 10:30 a.m. - 11:15 a.m.

We look forward to seeing our dads here!

Hiring - Middle School Subject Area Teacher

The Bhaktivedanta Academy, a spiritually-centered pre-k thru 10th grade school, located in Alachua, Florida, is seeking applicants for the position of Middle School Subject Area Teacher for our International Baccalaureate 7th through 10th grade Middle Years Programme*.

We are seeking qualified candidates who possess an enthusiasm for working with teens in a highly collaborative teaching environment. If you are a self-starter who wants to be part of a mission-driven school that provides an opportunity to grow personally and professionally, we encourage you to apply.

Bhaktivedanta Academy follows a 175 day school year with time off during summer and holidays. This is a salaried full-time position that will begin in August 2015.

Qualifications:

  • ISKCON member in good standing who is committed to his/her spiritual development.

  • BA or BS minimum in an area in which one could attain teacher certification for middle school (MS) or high school (HS).

  • Demonstrated competencies in at least 2 of the following MS/HS academic areas: Mathematics, Sciences, Language Arts, Social Sciences.

  • Inclination in 1 of the following areas: Technology/Design, Physical Education, Foreign Language, Drama, Music, or Art.

  • Minimum 1 year teaching experience preferred.

  • Able to pass local, state, and federal criminal background screenings.

  • Able to speak, read, and write English fluently.

  • US citizen or possess documentation of right to work in the US.

  • Current first aid and CPR certification preferred.

Bhaktivedanta Academy follows a 175 day school year with time off during summer and holidays. This is a part-time position that will begin in August 2015.

Qualifications:

  • ISKCON member in good standing who is committed to his/her spiritual development.

  • Able to pass local, state, and federal criminal background screenings.

  • Able to speak, read, and write English fluently.

  • US citizen or possess documentation of right to work in the US.

  • Knowledge of Montessori educational methodology or willingness to attain.

  • Prior experience working with young children in a classroom and/or daycare setting.

  • Completion of 40 clock-hour Introductory Child Care training preferred.

  • Current first aid and CPR certification preferred.
