Alachua County Library Bookmobile

We are happy to announce that Bhaktivedanta Academy is now an Alachua County Library Bookmobile stop. The Bookmobile will come on the 2nd Monday of each month. Our first visit will be on Monday, May 8.

Students will need to be registered with the Alachua County Library in order to checkout books. Registration forms will be going home in Friday folders. If your child doesn’t already have a library card, please return the form to the school office on Monday, April 24.

Big thanks to Jishnu Fitch (Nandulal and Gokul’s dad) for working with the management of the Alachua County Library to get our school added as a stop. He worked persistently to make this happen. We are also privileged to have him as the driver for our Bookmobile stop.

Notes and Reminders for Week of April 17

We hope you have had a nice weekend. Below are a few notes and reminders for the coming week:

Special Guest
Radhanatha Swami – a renowned sanyasi (monk), guru, and author will be visiting Bhaktivedanta Academy on Monday morning from 8 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.

Annual Testing
This is our annual Stanford 10 testing week for students in grade 3 - 10. It is super important that students attend all 5 days and are on-time fully rested and having eaten a healthy breakfast.

Personal Project Exposition
The 10th grade students in our Krishna Sharanam Middle Years Programme have each been working on a year-long self-exploration project. They will be making their presentation in the Krishna Sharanam classroom on Monday at 6 p.m. All families are welcome.

Temple Tuesday
Due to annual testing, we will not be attending the temple this Tuesday to ensure all students are properly rested and have had enough time to eat a good breakfast. It will be a normal 8 a.m. drop-off.

Bike Week
The week of April 24 is bike week for students in Audarya Bhavan, Madhurya Bhavan, and Krishna Sharanam. The coming week would be a great time to double-check your child's bicycle to make sure it is in good working condition.

Stanford 10 Testing Notification

Students in grade 3 and higher will be taking the Stanford Achievement Test, Tenth Edition (SAT-10), during the week of April 17. The SAT-10 is a norm-referenced achievement test that measures math, reading, and language skills. The results will be sent home for your review after the tests are processed and scored by Pearson Assessments.

Attendance is extremely important during this week. If there is a circumstance that will prevent your child from attending school please contact the school office.

During test week please help your children be at their best by:

  • Arriving at school by 8:00 a.m.;
  • Getting a minimum of 8 hours of sleep;
  • Eating a healthy breakfast;
  • Bringing 1 or 2 books they can read;
  • Ensuring they are relaxed and free from other worries.

To ensure students are well rested and not rushed in the morning, we will not be holding Temple Tuesday on April 18. Students should come directly to school by 8 a.m.

More information about the SAT-10 can be found online at www.stanford10.com.

Father’s Day Reminder with Time Change

Bhaktivedanta Academy's Annual Father’s Day is Friday, April 14. We have special activities planned and welcome the opportunity for students to share their class with their dads (a significant family friend or relative is welcome if a student doesn't have a father who can attend).

Due to a planned class activity timing conflict, the schedule has been changed to (in bold):

  • Bhakti Bhavan - 8:15 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
  • Audarya Bhavan - 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.
  • Krishna Sharanam - 9:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
  • Madhurya Bhavan - 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
